When looking for a placement I was told more than once that organisations don't like taking Chrysalis students as the course is a 'light touch'. Their admin in not good and some aspects are confusing. The first year is a major hypnotherapy focus - most people don't really want to know about hypnotherapy in that sort of depth, but we have to go there with Chrysalis in order to progress to year 2. The first year is basically unnecessary and I believe that's how they drag out a 2-year course.

This means I can't practice for another year.

This is because in most other courses you do a placement as part of Level 4 (year 2), while at Chrysalis it's in year 3. I have friends who did better training at college in just 2 years and are set up in private practice. I was locked into a contract for 3 years without realising that I could have done the course elsewhere in 2 years (eg: college).
