There was not a single complaint that he was coloring! Chemistry is a grown up subject. He really took his time on the coloring and made them nice. I think the fact that it is chemistry is what made all the difference. He seems to think he is a little too grown up for coloring sometimes. I will be honest, at first I was a little worried that my 10-year-old would be interested in a coloring book. Not all elements are included, only the less complex ones that kids can more easily understand. The elements are in order by atomic number. But older kids can read through it on their own. For younger kids, parents or teachers can read the information to them and help them understand it. The book is laid out with an information page on the left side and the coloring page on the right side. He has enjoyed reading through the information and coloring the pages about each element. Having this book has made him even more excited about it. My son has always been passionate about science and this year as he has studied chemistry I have watched him get excited as he has learned about the different elements and their properties. I LOVE starting kids earlier on subjects that they are expected to only do in high school. Then, when they are older and need to take it in high school, they will not fear it so much because they will already be familiar with many of the ideas. You can begin as early as 5 years-old, but older kids would enjoy it as well. The Periodic Table of Elements Coloring Book is designed to introduce younger kids to chemistry instead of waiting until they are older to begin teaching it to them.
